Kelechi will kick off the new year by starring as 'Celie' in the New York Regional premiere of The Color Purple, directed by Jeremy Quinn, with musical direction by Stephen Ferri and choreography by Taavon Gamble. Short Film Selected for Roger Ebert's Film Festival - March 2012
The Truth About Beauty and Blogs was selected for Roger Ebert's beloved Film Festival, Ebertfest. It was only the third short film in recent years to do so. Kelechi attended as a guest and panelist of the festival, among other talented guests like showrunner and writer Ali Leroi, actor Michael Shannon, and director Jeff Nichols, to name a few.
Prospect Theater Company's FOOLS FOR LOVE Cabaret - April
Kelechi will be singing in Prospect Theater Company's Fools for Love Cabaret on April 1 at 7 pm at the Laurie Beechman Theatre. The evening will feature songs by Peter Mills, Debra Abramson, Drew Fornorola, and Jay Alan Zimmerman to name a few.

The Truth About Beauty and Blogs made it's Chicago premiere at the 17th annual Black Harvest International Festival of Film and Video, at the acclaimed Gene Siskel Center in downtown Chicago.In attendance was guest of honor playwright and actress Regina Taylor, as well as famed critic Roger Ebert and his wife Chaz Ebert.
Casting Announced for Tearing Down The Walls - May 2011
Kelechi will be starring in the new musical Tearing Down The Walls, written and directed by Daniel Beaty with music by Oscar and Grammy-nominated songwriting team Jamal Joseph & Charles Mack.
"Infused with soulful music, impassioned spoken word and laugh-out-loud humor," Tearing Down The Walls, press notes state, "tells the story of the residents of a tight-knit Harlem community upended and pushed to the limit by life's challenges, but who find hope in the most unusual places."
Kelechi will be playing the role of Jessica, a sultry singer and sole proprietor of the 'live and poppin' Poetry Cafe.
Presented by The Riverside Theatre, Voza Rivers/New Heritage Theatre Group, and Walk Tall Girl Productions, the musical will officially open May 12 at the venue that previously housed Beaty’s solo show,Through the Night.
